Parents' Curriculum Map - Summer Term 2010
Dear Parents,
Welcome to our third Curriculum Map! This is to inform you of what your child/ren will be learning this term. We use a Creative Curriculum (The Creative Learning Journey) which includes Art, D.T., Science, History and Geography. R.E. is included where possible into the Creative Learning Journey, though there are times when it is taught separately.
Special Events this term
The children will be experiencing a range of arts and crafts from the Saxon, Roman and Viking times. Dates will be Thursday 6th May and
Friday 7th May. We would like to invite any parents along who hold a current CRB check to assist groups in this task. Please see Mrs Richardson or Mrs Arling for further details.
Equipment Needed in Year 5/6
PE kit (Mondays and Wednesdays)
Named Bottle of water
Learning Curve Book (Mondays)
Reading Book and Reading Record (Handed in on Tuesdays)
Gel pens and felt tips in a pencil case that fits into the child’s
individual tray (Optional)

| Creative Learning Journey | Invaders and Settlers (History, Geography) The children will begin by identifying who invaded Great Britain, when this happened and why they came. They will look at where the evidence came from and how they influence life today. | Invaders and Settlers (History, Geography, Science) To begin with children will look in more depth of a Roman soldier and the Vikings. In our science, we will be comparing two habitats and how animals and plants are adapted to live there. Jewish Week (RE) This topic encourages the children to look at the daily life and beliefs of the Jewish faith. |

| Numeracy | In Numeracy the children will be solving mathematical problems or puzzles. Children will recognise and explain patterns and relationships. | In Numeracy the children will be solving word problems involving numbers and quantities based on ‘real life’ money or measures including time. |
