Global Dimensions

Global Dimensions is an initiative which encourages schools to make links with schools locally, nationally and internationally. QCA states that: 'The global dimension explores what connects us to the rest of the world. It enables learners to engage with complex global issues and explore the links between their own lives and people, places and issues throughout the world. A 21st century curriculum needs to prepare learners to live and work in this fast-moving, interdependent, global society. It should enable all young people to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.'

We have made local links with St Thomas More Catholic School and we have enjoyed exchange visits with some children from the school.

We have also welcomed a teacher, Frau Koester-Fricke, from Calberlah Primary School, Lower Saxony, Germany. She has talked about how her school is very different to ours and has taught us many new German words. We have especially enjoyed learning Volkerball which is a ball game which German children love.

We have also started to make links with a Chinese school, which we hope will continue to develop over the coming months and years.
