School Awards

We always look to value and celebrate children's achievements. We do this in a number of ways:

  • Stickers
  • House Points
  • 'Proud of' Certificates
  • Specific Class Certificates
  • Times Tables Certificates
  • Monthly Writing Competition Prizes

Additionally, children are encouraged to celebrate their out of school achievements by bringing in certificates, medals or trophies to share during our Celebration Assemblies.

At Newborough, we have several 'cups' which are awarded to children for their efforts.

The House Cup

Everyone at Newborough belongs to a House - Dawson, Thrower, Hadman or Fitness. The Houses are named after former headteachers of the school.

Each week, all House Points earned are added together by the House Captains. The House which is awarded the most House Points overall have a ribbon in their House colours tied around the House Cup, which is then displayed by the office.

The Perseverance Cup

Each class has a Perseverance Cup. These cups were given to the school by Mrs Lewis (nee Huthwaite) upon her retirement. Every term, each class teacher awards their Perseverance Cup to the child who has shown perseverance in any aspect of their learning.

Governors Certificate

Each teacher nominates a child in their class to receive a Governors Certificate at the end of term church service.  This can be awarded for any aspect of school life at which the child has shown dedication, perseverance or exceptional talent.

Maths Award

A certificate is presented to a child from each class who has stood out in maths over the previous term.  They may have excelled in one area, or overcome specific difficulties and challenges within their maths work.

Writing Award

A certificate is presented to the child who has impressed all the teaching staff with their writing.

The Richardson Sports Cup

Donated to Newborough School by Mrs Richardson, a retiring PE coordinator.  These two cups are presented annually to a girl and a boy in Year 6 who have exemplified all the very best sporting skills and attributes.

The Saint Bartholomew Music Cup

Our Parish Church kindly donated this cup to celebrate musical talent within the school.  It is presented annually at the end of year church service.
