Headteacher's Message

Dobbies Competition
Congratulations to Isabelle and Olivia who entered a competition at Dobbies Garden Centre in Hampton and won. Not only did they get to cut the ribbon at the official opening but they also won £500 to spend on goods for the school!
Free School Meals (taken from Issue 18 of AMVC’s ‘The Voice’)
You are entitled to free school dinners for your children if you receive:
·         Income Support
·         Income based Jobseeker's Allowance
·         Guarantee element of Pension Credit
·         Child Tax Credit, an annual income below £16,190 and no Working Tax Credit.
·         Employment Support Allowance (Income Related)
·         Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
Please note: If you, or your partner, receive any working tax credit you will not be entitled to free school meals. This condition has been set by the Government and is outlined in the Education Act 2002.
The application form must be completed by the person who receives the qualifying benefit which can be requested from the Finance Department.
If your child is entitled to free school dinners but you are reluctant to take advantage of this entitlement, talk to us about your concerns. We will try to put your mind at rest. If you still decide not to take the free school meals we still encourage you to apply. You don't have to accept the free school meals but you will show on our records as being entitled. The more children who are shown as being entitled to free school meals the more funding the school will receive. This ultimately benefits your children.
The school now has a Twitter account, @NewboroughSch. This will be used as an additional way to send urgent messages/reminders to parents (not personal messages of course) and will not replace any other means of communication from school. It will not be updated regularly, just as required, and very much on a trial basis.
School is open from 8:50am
Recently there have been several occasions when pupils have been left without a parent/carer outside school before the 08:50 bell. We cannot be responsible for your children until this time (except for those going to Jump Start at 08:45). Please ensure that your child is accompanied by an adult with responsibility for them until the gates are opened.
Pupil’s leaving school via the front door
We are frequently reminding pupils that they are not allowed to press the door release button near the office. Please do not ask your child to do this; for safeguarding reasons only adults may open this door.
Thank you for acknowledging my note about not parking across people’s driveways. I know the parking situation became worse due to the roadworks on Guntons Road but please remember you are always welcome to park at The Bull or in the Pharmacist’s car park further down School Road.
